Carroll Gardens Classic Diner in Brooklyn

Popped in here earlier today for a quick bite with a friend. I thought you couldn’t go wrong with diner food. Oh how I was proven wrong. The heavy set waiter got our orders wrong. Once our food was delivered to the table, my friend began to eat his burger. I immediately noticed that the entire burger was covered in mold. When the waiter was informed, he didn’t seem phased by our discovery. I no longer had an appetite. I wouldn’t recommend this establishment. This establishment gives all diners a bad reputation.

Very full menu, attentive staff, clean bathrooms, best of all - open 24 hours. Food was okay, reasonably priced. Close to Bergen's metro stops so easy meeting spot after the club. Diner ambiance, it is what it is.

Great 24/7 dinner in Brooklyn. Coming here with kids once in a time to have a quick meal, soup, waffels and coffee. Thank you for being!)

Great experience. Ordered egg white wrap. Relative ordered turkey wrap w/bacon. We were both very satisfied. Food fresh, tasty, and served hot. All the servers were attentive and friendly. Bathroom updated and spacious. Older restaurant, but no foul odors or bad smells. Seems like a neighborhood staple. Would visit again.

A great go to place when you want that 'old school' feel. Don't be fooled, they're not just about meatloaf and mashed potatoes--- they have quite the healthy fare on the menu as well. Staff is great--- attentive not annoying. Big perk--- they're open holidays and 24/7!

Really is a classic diner. Food is always good and the staff is always friendly. Been going here for years.

Many options, from breakfast all day, pasta, chicken, burgers, salads, soups, steaks, appetizers, dessert, etc. There is also sitting area outback besides inside restuarant. Clean as well.

I have been going over here for 10+ years never had an issue. The servers know me and seen me before and after pregnancy and treat my son nice. On the other hand when the owner or boss or whatever is there... he is rude and not welcoming. I still go there cause of the servers and how nice they are but if they start hiring new staff I probably wont go there no more. Food is good.

My first time posting a review... Ever! The food is ‘ok’ and overpriced. I periodically still go here because they have a sun room in the back which is nice during the spring and fall months. However, I am NEVER going here again due to the rudeness of the manager last time I was there. In terms of a review, if you don’t have any imagination and want to pay a premium for mediocre diner food, then you have found the right place. Just remember, anything else on Smith Street is more worthwhile compare to this place.

An all-around lousy experience. Food was meh and too expensive for what it was. It took a long time for the food to come out, especially for a diner. The owner (I presume it was the owner) seemed to be berating an employee at the checkout counter, which was very unpleasant to witness. Will not be coming back here.

Came for a 03:30 early morning breakfast. The restaurant was quiet at 03:30 in the morning, but I was provided with friendly and quick service. The Sausage and Eggs were good, with quality sausages (better then most diners). The Popeye Spinach Salad was massive!

It’s a diner - you would think they could make eggs, potatoes and toast. Nope: the potatoes were raw, the eggs also undercooked. Sounds like the kitchen wants to get out food fast, but just not properly cooked. At least the toast was done.....

Pretty decent diner. The menu is extensive with good prices and the staff is really nice. Best part is there 24 hours 7 days a week.

The bacon cheeseburger was so delicious. I has cheddar cheese and the melt was perfect it stretched but didn't burn you mouth. Don't know what cuts are in grind but the burger is high quality.

I cant say enough about this place! The portions are generous..the waiters are kind...the cook is fantastic!! I will definately be coming back! What a gem 💖

This dinner is 24 hours with better then normal quality diner food. Alittle on the pricey side for a diner but well worth it. I go get all the time after a night out dancing.

Carroll Gardens is that one spot you know is always reliable when it comes to grabbing a casual dinner. The prices are bearable making the food, well, bearable. The burgers are a must if you're really looking to bust a gut. I would even go on record to say you could easily split a burger with your date and could call it a night. Would also like to add the brioche on the house is a nice touch, gotta love free appetizers.

Owners seem like experienced diner owners. They know what they are doing. Prices are a bit high.

This is not typical Smith Street hipster eatery. It is more like what this area was like before the arrival of the hipsters. The food is great, lots of choices, good service, good price, open all the time. The ambiance is not white table cloths, but comfy old school booths. My favorite place on Smith Street. Oh, the serving size of wine is really big.

Muchos Nachos were blah... No Buffalo Sauce for the Wings...Apple Pie tasted like Entenmanns...This Place Is Not Worth The $$$$

This place is a joke. Terrible overpriced food. The cheese in my burger was not melted. I asked the waitress to solve the problem. He took back the entire plate while i was eating the fries, instead of just taking the burger. I had to wait more... it’s such a simple common sense. then the burger came a little burnt. Fries tasted like oil. How can you go wrong with fries?? Mozzarella sticks were felt like still frozen, the worst i had. I like diners but this one had extremely big portions that looks like they randomly throw everything on the plate. It doesn’t look appetizing. So much waste. The people who work there seemed like they don’t care about anything. The waitress waited by the table watching us when we were giving tips, so uncomfortable.

Great classic dinner just like the name says. Big portions served just like they always have been in these spots. Great for when you are craving that bacon cheeseburger deluxe with some well done fries and a milkshake :)

Adorable diner with the nicest staff on the cutest street. Highly recommended the eggs Benedict it was delicious!

Pricey but the Brunch's on the weekends are actually a good deal, $21 and you can order Steak and Eggs and an alcoholic drink is included! That makes it worth it!

Service was very slow -- several guys just standing around yakking. Salad was not fresh -- many pieces of brown lettuce. Prices too high, especially for bad service and low quality produce. In their defense, ive been here before and they are usually a lot better than this. Gonna give them another chance, but only because of their past history.

Great neighborhood eatery serving traditional diner food. Good service, fair prices and tasty, well-made foods.

Loved this diner, open 24h a day and with a lot of menu options. The staff are great, especially Mr Spiro who made our late night dinner a very memorable one. This place has heart, highly recommend if you're in the area.

worst food i have ever tasted the soup was sour and no taste and the other item had no salt or pepper i thru everything in the garbage as soon as i tasted it never going back there again !!!!!

Poor service. Lackluster food. Used to go here years ago. However this place has lost its touch and it's so not worth visiting again
